Thank you for opening your heart and home to foster! As a fully foster-based rescue, the number of dogs we can save relies entirely on your generosity to open your home and give a dog a second chance.

We are committed to rescuing and rehabilitating dogs that have been abused, injured, abandoned, or forgotten. Our team provides medical care, training, and other services to prepare these dogs for adoption and their forever homes.

Many of the dogs we rescue require expensive surgeries and medical treatments, all of which are made possible through your support.

BECOME A FOSTER

  • All supplies are provided - fostering comes at no cost to you

  • Increase a dog’s chances of finding their forever family

  • A flexible commitment—perfect for dog lovers not quite ready to adopt

  • Foster care provides temporary homes for dogs that have no where else to go.

Fostering a shelter animal is a rewarding experience and helps get each dog ready for adoption.

  • The ideal foster will have a basic knowledge of animal care, as well as a desire to find their foster animal a safe and caring permanent home.

Fosters are responsible for sending LLR weekly photos, videos and updates of their foster dog to help promote them for adoption!

Examples of photos can be found on our social media account @loveleorescue

  • Length of foster care varies based on each dog. Some foster dogs may only need a couple nights of care, while others might need weeks.

Foster dogs stay in their foster homes until they are adopted out, so getting photos and videos of your foster animal is an important factor in length of stay!

  • We supply essential veterinary care, food, a crate, leash, collar, and tag. Additionally, we offer adoption counseling and review to ensure the best fit for both you and your new pet.

  • LLR has a no dog park policy. Transitioning to a new home is already a stressful experience for your dog, and dog parks, with their often unpredictable environments, can further heighten anxiety and lead to potential incidents.

We recommend visiting regular parks with spacious, leash-friendly trails instead

  • We absolutely love a "foster fail" but we also want to respect the potential adopter if a meet and greet is scheduled.

Please communicate with us if you are leaning towards wanting to officially adopt your foster dog.

Our ultimate goal is to find the best home for each Love Leo dog!
